Heterosis for seed, oil yield and quality of some different hybrids sunflower

چکیده

Twenty-one hybrids of sunflower were produced by crossing 7 introduced cytoplasmic male sterile lines (CMS-lines) with 3 restorer (RF-lines) using line × tester mating design. The twenty-one hybrids, three restorers, seven maintainer (B-lines) evaluated. experiment was conducted in a randomized complete block design replications. Mean squares due to genotypes, parents (P), crosses (C), (L), testers (T), P vs. C, for stearic acid and palmitic acid. inbred their F 1 differed significantly mean values the traits under study. variances specific combining ability (SCA) higher than general (GCA) all studied traits, showing non-additive type gene action controlling traits. Non-additive can be utilized varietal improvement through heterosis breeding. Heterosis seed yield plant −1 positive highly significant relative both parental (17.68–72.38%) better parent (−2.86–56.842%). Significantly negative recorded case linoleic (−81.24 −38.02%) (−66.24–22.87%). With oleic acid, heterotic effect ranged from −14.18 39.59% (parental mean) −15.06 38.72% (better parent). Therefore, these results are valuable quantitative as well qualitative breeding material fulfill edible oil requirements.

Effect of deficit irrigation on seed yield and yield components of sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) hybrids

This experiment was conducted to evaluate the effect of deficit irrigation on seed yield and its components of sunflower hybrids, and also identify tolerant hybrids. Twelve sunflower hybrids; Farrokh, Shams, Ghasem, Barzegar, G5 ×43, G6×43, Hysun25, Hysun36, Azargol, Sumbro, Euroflor and Sirena were evaluated under three irrigation treatments; normal irrigation (60 mm), mild drought stress (1...

Effect of Sunflower Seed Drying on Some Quality Parameters of the Seed and Oil

Drying temperature and time effect on oil quality parameters of both seed and kernel from a sunflower hybrid of potential high oil content was evaluated. Drying tests were carried through two treatments of thin layer drying, consisting the first in getting the equilibrium moisture content and the second a safe storage moisture value, both in a range of temperatures from 25 °C to 90 °C. Prolonge...

Evaluation of Genotype × Environment Interaction for Seed Yield of Sunflower Hybrids using GGE Biplot Method

Extended Abstract Introduction and Objective: The sunflower is one of the most important oilseed plants in the world and its oil has nutritional and high economic value. Identification and selection of high-yielding genotypes with desirable characteristics are especially important in this plant. Evaluating sunflower genotypes under different environmental conditions would be useful to identify...

Heterosis Decreasing in Hybrids--Yield Test Inbreds

U.S. corn production was 53 million Mg annually and corn yield averaged 1518 kg ha in the 1930s, when corn hybrids were first commercially grown. Corn production grew to 76 million Mg annually in the 1950s, to 150 million Mg annually in the 1970s, and to 219 million Mg in the 1990s (USDA/NASS 2007). In 2001 corn became the highest tonnage cereal crop worldwide: 557.6 million Mg of corn, 542.4 m...
